I heard a strange bird this evening. When I turned Merlin on the ap immediately and repeatedly said that it was a "hooded warbler". Is the hooded warbler sighted often in this area? Haven't heard you mention it this spring.
Hi Bill, the Hooded is a common breeding warbler here, mostly in thicker deciduous forests with plenty of undergrowth; definitely one of our most beautiful species. It has a range of quite distinctive vocalizations.
Weather reporter mentioned wildfires as source of haze. I noticed the same look early Wed. am.
Haze is from wildfires in Alberta.
