I never knew that squirrels preyed on fledglings ! I thought we only had to be concerned with black rat snakes.

Or at least nestlings, but I suppose a hungry enough squirrel might take what it can get.

They have had a taste for Golden-crowned Kinglet and who knows what else...and birds also worry about corvids such as crows and blue jays, house cats, and I think many other predators (raccoons? weasels? fishers? owls...hawks...etc.)
